How This Kid Lost $60 Million in 18 Hours (Or Not)


Found via the Mashable comments, a remix of the widely-derided Business Week cover featuring Digg’s Kevin Rose. The irony here is that Rose is known to be a BitTorrent user and likely opposed to DRM: the community is just a reflection of his beliefs.

Do we think Digg is done for, as many are saying? I seriously doubt it. Not since Friendster have we seen a mass exodus from a hot social networking property, and there aren’t many Digg alternatives that match the demographic’s interests. Even if you did set up the “anti-Digg” today, you wouldn’t be able to scale it.

Incidentally, the official word from Digg is that they may just tolerate the community’s behavior - what choice do they have?
