MiniMobs Launches Embeddable Chat Messaging

MiniMobs Launches Embeddable Chat Messaging

MiniMobs is a new chat messenger service that lets you embed its portable chat service onto your blog or website, or social networking profile.

MiniMobs comes in the shape of a mobile phone; choose from multiple colors of a Razor or a Chocolate, among other brands. Cuztomize your phone by skin color and screen color. Once you’ve gotten the code, you can add the chat module to your MySpace, hi5 or Piczo profile, or your own blog or website. The MiniMobs messenger has a menu for you to view or add MiniMobs contacts to your list, message another user, view your message history or return to the MiniMobs website. So really, this acts as a text-message device that works online. Your own MiniMobs chat comes in a private and public version.

Unlike Meebo, this widget doesn’t allow others to visit your site and leave you a message. In fact, if someone visits your site and sees your MiniMobs widget, they can send another user a message from your account, which I find a bit odd. Messages are delivered almost in real time, but don’t offer much in the way of feeling like a chat, and there’s no SMS integration. You’ll have to return to the menu in order to get your most recent message. Considering the actual features of MiniMobs, it would make more sense to create a desktop version, as this service is rather web 1.0.

Similar services include Peekamo, Bebo’s text-messaging widget, and LiveChat2IM.
